Well, this website is where you’ll find some interesting reading if you’re a beginning writer — or if you’ve ever thought about being a writer or writing your own book on a topic you’re passionate about.
This site is for the person who wants to be a writer, but doesn’t know how to get started.
It’s for the person who wants to write, but doesn’t know who to ask for help.
It’s for the person who wants to write easy-to-produce how-to-do-it books that sell. And, that would be how-to-do-it books on regular everyday topics.
And yes, I’m a how-to writer. I write simple how-to books and ebooks. I’m not a fiction writer. My old one-eyed dog Butch, rest his soul, could write better fiction than I could ever turn out.
But, I do admire and envy those gifted and creative individuals who have the talent to create beautiful fictional fantasies in our minds. Here’s a toast to all the talented fiction writers of the world. I salute you!
The World Of How-to Books
As much as I would like to be a fiction writer, my niche happens to be the unglamorous, but quite profitable field of how-to books. This site will concentrate on writing simple, yet very profitable, how-to books.
While it might sound a bit boring, there’s a world of money-making opportunities all around you. Everywhere … in the simple form of how-to books.
Why how-to books?
Because just about anyone, and I mean ANYONE, can write an interesting and money-making how-to-do-it book that thousands of people world-wide might want to buy.
And the best selling how-to books are those that contain straightforward everyday information. Information people have learned from their everyday lives and experiences. Particularly their occupations.
A Real Life Example Of A Potential How-to Writer
Here’s a typical real life example that happened to me a while back. This gentleman was a classic example of a person with a goldmine of experience, and enough knowledge to write a dozen how-to books — books that would sell!
The Universal Side Mount Hidden Throttle Control Box . . . The What!?
It all started with my boat. I love boating. I love to cruise the Caloosahatchee river here in southwest Florida and explore the back bays and islands around Sanibel, Captiva, and Pine Island. Cruising the great tarpon fishing spots in Charlotte Harbor is another fun adventure.
Anyway, I needed a new throttle control box (my gearshift, so to speak) for my boat. I called three boating and marine supply stores on the phone. Told them I need a new throttle control box, also giving them the make and model of the part I needed. I asked them if they had one, or if they could tell me where I could get one.
Well, two of the guys I spoke with asked a zillion questions, then told me to call several local marinas to try and find the part.
In other words, they gave me the run-around. The third guy I spoke with told me I’d have to bring my boat or the part to him so he could examine it. The run-around again. I was left frustrated and mad!
The How-to Book Goldmine Between His Sun Burnt Ears
Later in the day my wife and I had lunch at a restaurant directly across the street from a small store whose sign simply said “Marine Parts.”
What the heck, I thought … after lunch we drove across the street and went in.
In the back of the store at the parts counter, a gentleman, wearing the typical blue work shirt with name label, with the hands and nails of a mechanic, was on the phone with a customer.
This gentleman was telling the phone customer exactly how to replace steering cables on his boat. Talk about a coincidence.
I listened for a few minutes as this gentlemen behind the parts counter patiently went through every step of installing these cables with the customer on the phone.
Let me tell you, I was impressed. This man was an obvious master marine mechanic and expert in the marine parts trade. Finally he got off the phone and asked how he could help me.
Serendipity In A Blue Work Shirt
I told him I needed a side-mount throttle control box for my inboard/outboard boat with a Penta-Volvo engine.
He went in the back, and about 20 seconds later he came out with my new throttle control box. The exact replacement I needed. I was so happy I almost hugged the guy!
But what amazed me was what he did then . . .
He then proceeded to explain in meticulous detail the easiest way for me to replace my old throttle controls. He explained how to adjust the cable tensions. He told me a simple way to lubricate the throttle control cables.
He told me a simple trick (I never would have imagined) to make installation easier.
He spent a good fifteen minutes telling in detail the easiest way to install this part myself. He told me how I could save a couple of hundred dollars by doing the job myself!
I swear I thought I saw a golden halo around his head and large white wings growing out of his back! He was an angel! This guy was unbelievable! I have NEVER received such gracious and helpful service from any other retail parts person in my life.
This Gentleman is Just A Few Little How-to Books Away
From A Small Fortune, And A Perpetual Lifetime Cash Flow!
Now listen carefully. This guy could make a small fortune if he wrote a few little how-to-do-it books on simple everyday boat repairs.
I can see one of the titles now: How To Save Big $$$ Doing Minor Boat Repairs Yourself: Advice From A Master Marine Mechanic.
He could clean up! He could create a cash-cow that would be sending him a steady stream of income for the rest of his life. The possibilities for this guy are amazing!
There are millions of people, myself included, who would buy his books! His market is unlimited, world-wide, and never-ending for this type of information. You see, there will always be guys like me — weekend boaters and shade tree mechanics — who do our own boat repairs. And I wouldn’t think twice about spending a few dollars for book giving me a few expert tips to make my repairs easier.
Yes, this experienced marine mechanic has a goldmine between his ears! All he has to do now is mine those gold nuggets of information, and turn them into a well-produced ebook to sell on the Internet . . .
I must confess, I get so excited when I see the amazing opportunities in simple how-to books that are EVERYWHERE! Opportunities that regular everyday people have right before their eyes. Opportunities for writing simple little how-to-do-it books about their own experiences, skills, talents, and job skills.
Now, It’s Time To Write YOUR Book . . .
